Nurses’ Clinical Skill Utilisation: An Opinion from Public Health Institutions

Background: Nurses are the backbone of health care systems worldwide. In India, assessment ofexisting knowledge nursing workforce and utilization skills is not evaluated properly used toensure good quality in care.Methods : Using Delphi technique a survey was developed sent to nurses. Self- rating methods (ona likert scale) were order operationalize personal skills.Results: Almost half (48%) participants have Bachelor degree. Out this 27.2% qualified for ahigher education (e.g. Master related subject). Most nurses (56% sample females) permanentemployed working as staff nurse or officers public sector. Among participants. 20% havesufficient teaching experience between 1 3 years. Self-rating high almost all topics.Conclusion: Having attained higher most remain nurses.The self-rating underlines their ability take over much positions andresponsibilities. Moreover, hardly acknowledged by institutions since staffis usually recruited from outside. The study suggests that majority population has an interest workin rural area .Better work conditions needed gain areas.Skills should be effectively utilized areas administration, management, research education, with aproper distribution urban ensure system India.
